The last heifer in our Hereford herd finally calved and of course it was April Fool’s Day. We had been thinking for a while that she wasn’t pregnant after all. We had not had her tested, but we knew she had been in with a bull before we brought her home in September. I was at work and missed all the fun. Brett said that he and the girls were sitting at the table eating breakfast when he saw what he thought was a big grass clump move. He looked closer and sure enough, it was a bull calf. Momma was working on getting him cleaned up. It didn’t take long before he was on his feet nursing looking healthy and strong.
